Goals

My name is Korey Cournoyer and I am currently a Senior at Saint Michael's College concentrating on all areas of finance and marketing. Over the course of the past three years, I have spent my time at GrowthLab Financial Services, working my way from an Intern up to my current position as Manager of Strategic Growth. During this time, I have had the unparalleled opportunity of developing a deep relationship with many of our customers and helping their business or start-up during the very crucial moments of their existence.

I have worked with companies who, in my opinion, have had an unbelievable product or service, yet, didn't quite have a plan for marketing or promoting their product to their desired target market, and thus failed and bankrupt the company. I have also been with companies who, also in my own opinion, have had a horrible product that I would probably never use, yet their marketing strategy was methodically thought-out, benchmarked, and executed upon. For some, this is the all too unfortunate truth within their business.

One of the best quotes I have ever heard is, "A goal without a plan is just a dream." A simple, yet, truly meaningful quote, and one that surely has its relevance throughout the business and marketing world. Keeping this adage in mind, my goal in writing these blog posts is to twofold...

First, to explore and analyze the marketing strategies used by start-ups and hyper-growth companies, with the goal of understanding their intentions, strategy, plan, and results. With each post, I will take a single marketing topic or strategy that is either unique or highly disruptive to talk about.

Second, to use my experiences working within the startup and small business world to relate market trends, company strategies, and outcomes to some of my experiences. Furthermore, to try and relate these ambitions of sometimes larger companies, to what we are seeing in my own daily life in Boston and Burlington.

If there are any issues that you find interest and would like me to explore further, just leave a comment and I'd be happy to talk about it on my next post!
